I love Proverbs 31 Ministries and have since the first day I walked in the office over seven years ago.
When I moved to Charlotte in 1998, I quit my job as a full time attorney to stay home with my kids. When they started school, I longed to work again, but I wanted to be home after school…a schedule not at all conducive to the practice of law.
God opened the door for me to join the Proverbs staff. From my first day, I knew this was a special place. The girls in the office welcomed me with open arms. Everyone was always willing to stop what they were doing to help. I remember one day in particular when I overheard our receptionist listening to and then praying for a woman who called in to share her heartbreaking story. Day after day, I saw God at work in our midst. I have seen and experienced His favor in amazing ways.
Proverbs is the real deal, my friend!
Within time, I joined the Proverbs 31 Speaker Team. What a blessing, but it also required some work…like starting a blog. Now at that time, I was a girl who had only recently gotten e-mail. So the thought of a blog terrified me. I fought it every step of the way.
But again, my friends at Proverbs 31 not only encouraged me but also equipped me (thank you, Lisa Boyd). Little did I know that through Proverbs 31 and my blog, God would open an on-line ministry like nothing I had ever imagined!
I hosted my first on-line study with my book Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner. After that, I hosted an on-line Bible study, Cultivating a Heart of Prayer. Leading these on-line Bible studies are now my joy and delight. I absolutely love writing them, hosting them and studying God’s Word with women from all over the world!
Rather than tell you myself what an effect Proverbs 31 has had, I asked two of my on-line study girls, Noelle Dey and Heather Bleier, to share their thoughts with you.
From Noelle’s Heart:
Sometimes God whispers so intimately, it’s impossible to deny His fingerprints on our lives. God spoke to me through a Proverbs 31 devotional. I longed to learn more so I followed a link to the author’s blog. My thirst was being quenched through God’s wisdom on prayer written by Wendy Blight.
I stood in awe as His gifts continued to unravel. Wendy was offering a free online Bible study on “Cultivating a Heart of Prayer.” Juggling a family and a career, I had no idea that I could participate in a Bible study group. But there I was, sipping my coffee at 4:00 am with a beautiful community of women from every corner of the world. Our friendships were truly God-authored.
Through our Bible study community, a few of us became sisters in prayer. We have walked each step of our lives together since the inception of the group. We have held each other up in prayer through a cancer diagnosis, surgeries, deaths, marital struggles, trials with children and plain ol’ bad days. And we have danced on the mountaintops praising God for a marriage, two engagements, the birth of a baby, an adoption, a pregnancy, job successes and more.
God used the talents of Proverbs 31 Ministries and Wendy Blight. Through their faithfulness, the blessings have multiplied. I am humbled and overwhelmed to be a recipient of these immeasurable gifts!
From Heather’s Heart:
It wasn’t by chance that I found Wendy’s book Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner: The Transforming Power of God’s Story almost three years ago. Nor was it by chance that she was just starting her online Bible study, Cultivating a Heart of Prayer. God knew what I needed in my life, a community of women where I could grow deeper in my faith; though I never expected to find it online.
Shortly after the study, a few of us on her blog decided to start an online prayer group. Almost three years later and literally thousands of emails back and forth, this group has grown as close knit as if we were meeting face to face. We have sisters in Europe and spread all the way from Cali to North Carolina and Massachusetts to South Florida. Our precious circle of sisters may be separated by vast stretches of land, water, and time, but we have been brought together by the Spirit. Led by the Spirit to uplift one other in prayer, encourage one another in our faith, marriages, as mothers, friends, coworkers, employees, and more.
When I imagine heaven and the body of believers, I picture our sisterhood. It wouldn’t have come about if Wendy hadn’t answered His Call to step out in faith, start this blog and, like her fellow P31 sisters, walk along side women as we walk with God.
There are thousands of women in the very same place as Noelle and Heather…busy women longing for a deeper relationship with God and a fellowship of women with whom to do it.
That’s where you come into play. We at Proverbs 31 Ministries are very committed to taking Jesus’s life changing truths into all the world and want to invite you to help us.
We have the avenues to reach these women. Just this week, we launched an online Bible study that is reaching over 22,000 women in over 120 countries. This is pretty amazing considering there are only 194 countries in the world!
So, yes, we have the ways to reach them, but we need friends, like you, who can be our financial partners to help us.
If you have a story about how Proverbs 31 has changed your life or the life of a woman you know, will you please leave a comment and share it with us today? Let’s praise God together for the great things He has done and will continue to do in the lives of women just like you and me through Proverbs 31 Ministries!
Will you prayerfully consider partnering with us today? If you choose to say “yes,” please know…
Your gift will touch a life.
Your gift will be an answered prayer.
Your gift matters.
