Message from My Heart Today…
Mary taught us to take time to sit at the feet of Jesus…to soak in His Word…to listen for His voice.
God wants us in His Word because He has much to say about it in the Scriptures. Below are some precious truths and promises from the Lord about His Word.
Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deuteronomy 8:3
Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-9; 11:18-19
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word. Psalm 119:9
Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130
As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is flawless. 2 Sam. 22:31; Proverbs 30:5
My Word that goes out from My mouth: it will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it out. Isaiah 55:11
The Lord said to me, ‘You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that My Word is fulfilled. Jeremiah 1:12
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight. Jeremiah 15:16
Is not My Word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks rocks into pieces? Jeremiah 23:29
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35
For the Lord will execute His Word upon the earth, thoroughly and quickly. Romans 9:28 (NASB)
For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19
And in Scripture the Lord also tells us that His Word is the key to transforming our hearts and minds and understanding His will.
Be very careful then how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-18
Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants. Ephesians 5:17 (Message)
***So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going-to-work and walking around life – and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)***
Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:20-24 (NLT).
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom. Colossians 3:16
Let’s pray this Prayer of Commitment together as we tuck these truths and promises deep into our hearts:
Heavenly Father, our source of Truth and Knowledge, penetrate our hearts as we seek You in Your Word. Wherever we are in our walk, meet us there and light a fire within us to be still and know that You are God. Create in us a hunger and thirst for Your Word. We commit to spend time at Your feet. As we do, Lord, fill us with a fresh Word. Teach us how to live according to Your Word. Give us the strength and courage to refuse to walk according to our flesh and the world. Empower us to walk according to the Spirit. Bring wise and believing women across our paths to walk our journey with us. Help us to humble ourselves to be not only hearers of Your Word but also doers of the Word. Open our hearts to fully receive Your Word and empower us to willingly obey it, even when it is hard. Shine Your Light before us so that we may know Your way. Direct our paths and make the crooked places straight. Fill us with Your Spirit. Empower us to choose the wise thing to do in every situation. Day by day make Your Presence known. Be active in our lives. Bless our obedience. Thank You, Lord, that You will never leave us or forsake us. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
Blessings to you,
“Day by day make your presence known.” love that prayer! Blessings.
Thanks for sharing these Scriptures Wendy, it’s been a joy to read them today – God’s used them to keep my eyes on Him and remind me of the power He possesses. And your prayer, it’s touched a tender spot as well. Printing it off and plan on praying it in the days to come; trust God will hear our words and be faithful to keep His promises! Blessings to you!
“The Word is alive! And it cuts like a sword though the darkness, with a message of life to the hopeless, and the frail, breathing life, into all who believe, the Word is alive! And the world and it’s glories will fade, but it’s Truth, it will not pass away, it remains yesterday and forever the same, the Word is alive!
Lyrics from one of my favorite songs “The Word is Alive” by Casting Crowns
I thought it seemed appropriate to share, it’s really a great song!
Thank you Wendy for sharing. The ones I like best are the Deut. 6:6-9, 11:18-19 verses. I imagine them written everywhere on myself and seeing them everywhere around my house and wherever I go, and my children the same.
Thank you Wendy, for the study and for these scriptures and prayer. This caught my eye in your prayer: Direct our paths and make the crooked places straight, I had read the scripture in Ecclesiastes yesterday..I love that I can remember now, and just have words or scripture jump out at me….I just can’t thank you ladies enough, for sharing your stories and struggles, and for helping me as I grow in God……..Blessing
7:13 Consider the work of God: who can make straight what He has made crooked?
WOW, love all the powerful scriptures you posted. And what you posted about the culture around us always dragging us down to its level of immaturity, how I pray for all of us to read and listen to the truth so we become mature and not let the culture affect us or our families. I printed off the verses and prayer and I too am going to read them and pray the prayer everyday. Thanks Wendy 🙂
Just wanted to say thank you, sweet Wendy, for laying down your life to our Father, but also to all of us women across the miles. I love the description, like Janet, about not letting our culture drag us to its level of immaturity… Instead, “Lord, we pray for you to raise us moms and women up to the level of maturity you desire for each one of us…today… And they will all look so different, but that’s what I love about you… You designed us all according to your purpose… Your standard…to be like you…thank you for the hope you instill in us and for the peace that truly does invade our hearts when we stand on your Word and Be still in your presence alone!,” amen
Be Transformed Romans 12:1-2
Wendy, I echo the words that all of our girlfriends have spoken here. Thank you. God’s love and wisdom shines so brightly through you. Thank you for your powerful teaching on reading, abiding in, praying and loving God’s Word! I feel so honored to also be a witness to how you live it out in your own life. The way you pray God’s Word over your family members day by day has inspired me to do the same. Thank you sweet friend! I love you!
We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard—God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word. (2 Peter 1:19-21 MSG)
This translation brings me so much comfort and confidence. In addition to the promises from Gods word, i got a prophetic word at my bible believing church and I am standing on those promises which specifically speak about my healing! I listen to it over and over especially when I feel discouraged. It’s my light in the darkness of fear and anxiety.
I am so blessed by this bible study. I thank God for showing me this way. My heart has been pricked and I am looking forward to going further in this study and God’s word.
Thank you for taking the time to send such a sweet word of encouragement!
Wendy
